The North Carolina Thoracic Society (NCTS) is the North Carolina chapter of the American Thoracic Society (ATS). We represent pulmonary physicians, critical care specialists, sleep medicine practitioners, and thoracic surgeons across the state — from academic medical centers to community hospitals and private practices.
Our Mission
NCTS exists to improve lung health and critical illness outcomes for all North Carolinians. We achieve this through continuing medical education, advocacy for evidence-based health policy, fostering connections among clinicians and researchers, and supporting the next generation of pulmonary and critical care professionals in our state.
What We Do
Each year NCTS organizes the NC Thoracic Symposium, providing clinicians with practical updates in pulmonary medicine, ARDS management, lung cancer screening, sleep medicine, and critical care. We coordinate member participation in ATS initiatives and represent North Carolina's interests in national pulmonary health policy discussions.
Our job board connects institutions across North Carolina with the state's pulmonary and critical care talent pool. Postings reach our member mailing list and are published on this site for 60 days.
Membership
NCTS membership is open to ATS members residing or practicing in North Carolina, as well as trainees in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine fellowship programs at NC institutions. Contact us at info@ncthoracic.org to get involved.
